Things I've Learnt in Two Months of Being a Mum
My not so little girl is two months old! I can't believe how fast time has flown. I know that I don't know everything about being a mum and it has only been two months, but I thought I would share some things I have learnt so far.
You stop noticing sick on your clothes.
I dont know if this happens with all babies but Millicent is sick/spits up quite a bit. She usually spits up a little when we burp her and some sick usually dribbles out of her mouth when we hold her. So with such a sickie baby we get a lot of it on our clothes, especially when we hold her against our chest! So I an constantly wondering around with sick on my shirt. At first I would go and change as soon as possible but now it really doesn't bother me and I usuallt forget about it. I've been finding that I will only remember the sick on my shirt once we've left the house.
You really don't care about being covered in bodily fluids.
Only one hour ago I was cleaning poo off my arm. She had done such a big poo that it went all over her clothes, back and me. She used to seem to wait to pee until her napoy was off, causing it to go everywhere! Luckily she doesn't do that anymore. It's got to the stage where I don't care that I'm covered in poo, pee or sick, I can clean it off. As long as she is happy thats all that matters
There is a lot you can do in five minutes.
Millie likes to sleep for a couple of minutes here and there and rarely is it in her bed, she loves falling asleep in our arms. So when she does have a little nap in her bed that is the time when we have to get stuff done. I've found than in the space of five minutes i can do a lot because I have to. Those five minutes are the only chance I may get to tidy up or even sleep myself. I ususlly rush to do some washing or clean her bottles or do the washing up or eat. I've never done so much in such a little time.
You can never have too many bibs.
I don't know if this is the same for breast ted babies because Millie is bottle fed (I know the thoughts people have on bottle feeding and i don't want to hear it. I will probably post at some point about why she's being bottle fed). As I said, she spits up a lot so we go through so many bibs! Before she was here we thought we had too many clothes and bibs for her. Since she's been here we realise that there is no such thing as too many. Some days she will go through every bib we have and that is a lot of bibs. Some days it goes through the bibs onto her clothes so she can go through loads of changes of clothes. There is no such thing as too many bibs.
There is also no such thing as too many nappies.
Omg she gets through so many nappies! There's changing her during the night and then constantly during the day. We are always buying more nappies because by the time the shop gets delivered then we would have probably run out or run low. You also don't need the most expensive nappies, we have tried asda, tesco and pampers and by far the best ones are from tesco.
I will do anything to make her happy.
She's my little girl. I love seeing her smile and I hate seeing her cry. It's true when they say that there is no love quite like the one you have for your child. She is so adorable and beautiful and I will do anything to make her happy and make her smile. I can't wait to hear her first laugh and see her grow.
I know that I don't have all the answers, I've only been a mum for two months but these are just some things I've learnt/noticed in my short time being a mum.
