Baby Products That We Couldn't Live Without
There are products that are obvious that you need when you have a baby, like nappies, wipes, clothes etc. By the way, Tesco nappies seem to be the best we've tried so far and they're so cheap!
This bouncer has been a life saver at times! Millie loves falling asleep on us and sometimes we need to move her off to get stuff done or to even have a 5 minute nap ourselves but as soon as we lay her down or move her she wakes up. The only place she will be moved to and stay asleep is her bouncer. If we lay her in the bouncer and bounce it a couple of times she drifts straight back asleep. We've had this one since she was a couple of weeks old and she still fits and sits in it now at 14 weeks! She will also sit in it and play if I need her to be safe somewhere while I get stuff done. I think this one cost about £20 which for how much we've used it is amazing!
We have found a few bits and bobs that have been so helpful in the first few months of having Millie here. They aren't things that you need necessarily or that every baby will enjoy but they are things that have helped us with Millie and that she seems to like.
Baby Bouncer
This bouncer has been a life saver at times! Millie loves falling asleep on us and sometimes we need to move her off to get stuff done or to even have a 5 minute nap ourselves but as soon as we lay her down or move her she wakes up. The only place she will be moved to and stay asleep is her bouncer. If we lay her in the bouncer and bounce it a couple of times she drifts straight back asleep. Play Mat
We've had this play mat for a couple of months now and she loved it the second we put her on it. She had always been a very kicky baby, even when I was pregnant with her, so we got one that has a little piano at the end for her to kick. This one comes with bits for her to hit and hold and a mirror to look into. She loves looking at herself in the mirror. The good thing about this one is you can change it so baby can still use it as they get older. The best use we have found for this has been to keep her occupied while we have dinner. Recently she's not been so fond of it at our dinner time but she still uses it during the day and loves the little toys that came with it. I think this cost around £40 but it has been so worth every penny.
Swaddles
Millie moves so much when she sleeps! She throws her arms and legs around and jolts/jumps in her sleep. The only thing we've found that helps her get to sleep are swaddles. We use the ones with velcro that are so easy to put on her. There was one night where she was sick on all 3 of her swaddles and it was a nightmare getting her to sleep! She just kept waking herself up. We have to start weaning her off the swaddles because she's learning to roll and we know it could be very dangerous if she rolls while swaddled and we aren't looking forward to putting her to bed without them. The ones we got were 3 for £20 so really good value!
Buggy Toys
We were given these little lion and monkey clip on toys/teddies and they have been great. Since she was born we put these onto her buggy just so she had something to distract her if she got grumpy during our walks. She loves them. We move the monkey one to her cot when she sleeps so she has him all the time and she loves to play with the lion when we go for a walk. The lions mane is crinkly so it makes noise when she grabs it and that keeps her busy for ages. We also have a tigger Teddy and a little octopus teddy/rattle that we bought yesterday which she loves. She will lay there staring and talking to tigger and she grabs at the octopus and shakes it.
Honourable Mentions
Her buggy has been a life saver! She loves being pushed in it and it calms her down so much! She can be screaming the house down and then a couple of minutes into a walk she'll be asleep.
Some music playing device. We have a mobile and a bunny Teddy that when you press it's foot it plays a lullaby. These have helped on nights where she's struggled to get to sleep.
I think that's it! Like I said these have really helped us. Not all babies will like them because every baby is different. I'll probably do an updated list when we reach 6 months and maybe I'll make this a regular blog of things that have helped us. I already know that teethers will most likely be on the next list as they are starting to help us now as she is teething supet early.
Until next time,
Zoe x
